SMS chosen as ‘Employer of the Year’ finalist at Utility Week Awards
SMS is delighted to be confirmed amongst the finalists for the Utility Week Awards 2020, named in the ‘Employer of the Year’ category.
Employers within the UK utilities sector nominated for this coveted industry award are recognised for their outstanding leadership and commitment to investing in their employees, protecting their wellbeing, and championing diversity and inclusion.
Alongside SMS, our industry peers Anglian Water, Pure Planet, So Energy, and UK Power Networks are also nominated for the ‘Employer of the Year’ prize.
This year, for one year only, the annual Utility Week Awards ceremony has moved from its usual December slot and will be celebrated on Monday 8th February 2021 as a 100% virtual event.

About the Utility Week Awards 2020
The Utility Week Awards, this year hosted virtually (Monday 8 February 2021), celebrates the outstanding achievements of utilities in 2020, a year defined by the coronavirus outbreak. Considering this, the ceremony will recognise the hard work of companies, teams and individuals to maintain resilient essential services in exceptionally challenging circumstances, especially for vulnerable customers and communities.
Having introduced various new award categories to reflect the specific challenges utilities have faced in 2020, the Awards will also reflect the growing need for utilities to play a leading role in the UK’s ambition to tackle climate change and become a net zero emissions economy by 2050 or sooner.
